K-1 Appointments

Get an Earlier K-1 Visa Interview Appointment

Short answer

Earlier K-1 interview appointments can become available if another applicant cancels or reschedules their date. Whether such openings appear—and how quickly they are taken by others—depends on your consulate's scheduling system.

Why Applicants Seek Earlier Appointments

Wedding or travel plans

Your original interview date may conflict with venue bookings, travel arrangements, or visa validity timelines.

Employment or lease deadlines

Job offers, visa sponsorship timelines, or housing situations may create pressure to complete the process sooner.

Separation anxiety

Many couples prefer to minimize time apart and begin their life together as soon as possible.

How Earlier Appointments Become Available

Earlier dates do not appear because a consulate releases them. They appear because another applicant already holding that date cancels or reschedules to a different time.

1

Another applicant cancels their appointment

Their slot becomes available in the scheduling system.

2

The slot becomes visible to eligible applicants

On AIS systems, it appears in the calendar as an available date.

3

You (or another applicant) books the slot

The first applicant to complete booking secures the earlier date.

If You Already Have an Appointment

You may still want to monitor for earlier dates

Holding an appointment does not prevent you from watching for an earlier opening. If a better date appears:

  1. Log in to the scheduling system
  2. Check if rescheduling is allowed for your post
  3. Book the earlier date if it appears and you want it

Note: Some posts may restrict how often you can reschedule. Check your consulate's current instructions.

Competition for Earlier Dates

Earlier dates are not reserved for you

When a cancellation appears, any eligible applicant using the scheduling system may see and attempt to book it.

Even if you receive an alert that an earlier date was detected, another applicant may complete the booking before you act.

Availability can be short-lived. Manual checking once or twice per day may miss openings that appear and disappear within hours.

Monitor for Earlier Appointment Availability

At supported AIS posts, the K-1 Visa Appointment Monitor can watch appointment availability from your computer and alert you when earlier dates are detected.
